NCJP marks “Pray for Kashmir” as solidarity with suffering people of Kashmir

Hyderabad: September 11, 2019. (By Rubina David) On 23rd  August, 2019 National Commission for Justice and Peace, Hyderabad office under the leadership of Fr. Shahrukh Nathaniel OFM (Director NCJP Hyderabad) hold a Symbolic Protest ‘’Pray for Kashmir’’ in solidarity with the people, suffering in Kashmir.

People participated from St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Hyderabad, St. Elizabeth Parish, Catholic Board of Education Hyderabad, Caritas Pakistan Hyderabad, St. Mary’s School, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Hayat-e- Nau, Khatoon-e-Sulah School, Ecology Commission and civil society gathered to show solidarity with Kashmiri community and demanded for Peace. They strongly condemn the brutal attitude of Indian Government.

Expressing his views Fr. Shahrukh Nathaniel OFM (Director NCJP Hyderabad) said we are with our Kashmiri brothers and we pray for them and request to Govt. of Pakistan that please take appropriate and effective steps to prevent this atrocity. We insist that we want peace and justice to prevail for the people of the troubled region of Kashmir.

Fr. Felix D’Souza OFM (Parish Priest St. Elizabeth Parish) said that we promote peace and we have to pay our role to protect the peace movement. Government should work on preliminary basis and ensure that they should pay their duties to prevent the widespread events of cruelty.

Protesters raised their voice with slogans like:  stop cruel and oppressive rule, stop bleeding, stop violence, we want peace in Kashmir.  

At the end with Fr. Shahrukh Nathaniel OFM (Director NCJP Hyderabad) prayed for peace among both countries and ask pleaded to the leadership of India and Pakistan to resolve this conflict through negotiations and peaceful dialogue.
