Mississauga. October 2. Mr. Shadab Khokhar, in a press release by the International Christian Awaz, Canada, have announced that keeping in view the growing persecution of Christians in Pakistan, a meeting has been scheduled with the local Pakistani
The Consul General of Pakistan, Toronto will be attending and giving out the view of the government of Pakistan.
Mr. Khokhar have further added that the persecution of the Christians is on the rise since the implementation of the 'Blasphemy Law', introduced by the army dictator General Zia ul Haq and implemented by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The Christians in Pakistan are intimidated, harassed and converted to Islam by force. The Islamic Madrasas in Pakistan and the influx of the Tailban from Afghanistan has created a society where religious tolerance is zero.
The latest coalition against terrorism and the inclusion of Pakistan in the International effort to curb terrorism has brought upon a severe persecution of Pakistani Christians, who are mostly economically weak and politically powerless.
Since October 2001, 41 Christians have killed in terrorist attacks in different cities of Pakistan. 7 Christian Nurses shot dead in Taxila Christian Hospital, 6 Christians killed in grenade attack in Murree Christian School, 16 Christians killed in a Catholic Church in Bahawalpur, 5 Christians killed in International Church, Islamabad, 7 Christians killed in Karachi.
Mr. Shadab Khokhar has urged the international community to take notice of the situation of the Christians in Pakistan and is of the view that these killings can only be stopped, with the help of the International community.
