Condemning the Brutal Killing of Christians in Nigeria

Lahore: April 11, 2019. (PCP) National Commission for Interreligious Dialogue and Ecumenism (Pakistan Catholic Bishops’ Conference) organized a meeting to condemn the brutal killing of Christians in Nigeria. The executive secretary of NCIDE chaired the meeting. Maulana Muhammad Asim Makhdoom also participated in this meeting. All the participants of the meeting unanimously condemned and rejected the killing of Christians in Nigeria.

Maulana Muhammad Asim Makhdoom expressed his solidarity with the Christians. Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap. expressed his deep grief on the killing of Christians in Nigeria and the killing of Muslims in New Zealand. He said that world community must take notice of the inhuman act in Nigeria. He appealed to the world leaders to raise their voice for the protection of Nigerian Christians as they raised they voice for the victims of New Zealand. He said that the Pakistani political leadership need to learn from the example of the prime minister of New Zealand as she went out of her way to support and console the Muslim community.

Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap. also spoke on the role of the world media as the world media did not bring to light the brutal killing of the Nigerian Christians. He express his disappointment that the news of the killing of Christians in Nigeria was not highlighted. He appealed to the world media to play its active and positive role in Nigeria for the protection of humanity and Christians. He assured that the National Commission for Interreligious Dialogue and Ecumenism (Pakistan Catholic Bishops’ Conference) would always condemn and reject any kind of killing in the name of religion, race or caste. He pledged that NCIDE would continue to play its role to promote peace and harmony.
