Capuchin Schools Celebrate 800 Years of Dialogue between St. Francis & Sultan Al- Kamil

Lahore: March 1, 2019. (Haroon Gill) Fr. Benedict Ayodi OFM Cap visited the three Capuchins schools located at Kot Lakhpat, Lahore accompanied by Rev. Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap the Custos of the Capuchin in Pakistan and the Manager of the Capuchin Schools. The staff and students of Franciscan Boys High School, Franciscan Girls High School and St. Mary’s High School Branch II welcomed the honorable guests with a traditional way.

After the welcome. Fr. Benedict Ayodi OFM Cap saw the peace cards in “St. Francis Peace Cards Exhibition” along with Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap and other Capuchin Friars where students of the Capuchin schools presented him peace cards. The students demonstrated their desire for peace and harmony through their peace cards. The cards were prepared beautifully on the life of St. Francis as God’s instrument of peace. The purpose of the exhibition was to promote peace, harmony, acceptance, tolerance and solidarity through art work.

The students of the three Capuchin Schools presented a cultural program after the St. Francis Peace Cards Exhibition. The program was based on the native culture and the values of peace, harmony, acceptance, friendship and care for creation were visible. The students’ performance on creation story, life of St. Francis of Assisi and meeting of St. Francis of Assisi and Sultan Al-Kamil were the highlights of the program

The students and teachers of the Capuchin schools were given appreciation Certificate for their outstanding performances by Fr. Benedict Ayodi OFM Cap.

 In his address to the students Fr. Benedict Ayodi OFM Cap delivered the greetings of Father Minister General to the students and to Capuchin Friars on the occasion of 800 years of encounter between St. Francis of Assisi and Sultan Al-Kamil. He said that we are all invited to be ambassador of peace as God created everything with love and care. He further stated that everything in creation is interconnect. Therefore, we are responsible to take care of God’s creation and live in peace and harmony for the betterment of the entire human family. Fr. Benedict expressed his gratitude. Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap, all the teachers and students for all the good work and appreciated their efforts for peace.
