HYDERABAD: April 25, 2018. (By Abbas Kassar) Are we really Pakistanis and Pakistan is ours? Give sanctity to our vote and give Christians right to elect their representatives instead of selection. These views were expressed by Bishop Arshad Kaleem Khan while addressing gathering at Diocese Hyderabad Church of Pakistan. He said role of Christians in Pakistan has been exemplary. They raised slogan of Pakistan Zindabad before others. He lamented that today they have been deprived of electing their representatives but they are nominated who never represent Christians and that they have been left at mercy of other political parties. He reminded that hospitals and schools of Christians have played vital role in serving the nation. He reminded speech of Quaide Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah of 11 August 1947 in which he had said we all are citizens of one state and all have equal rights. He demanded from major political parties like PML(N), PPP and PTI to provide minorities equal rights to that to take them out of deprivation feelings so as they can also say we are also Pakistani and Pakistan is ours. He asked if “we are equal citizens then their vote be given sanctity and they be allowed to elect their own representatives.
