Muslim and Christian Leaders pray for peaceful Pakistan

Lahore (Sunil John) March 24, 2018. An interreligious prayer service was organized by National commission for interreligious Dialogue & Ecumenism (Catholic Bishops Conference – Pakistan) in connection with Pakistan Day. A number of Muslim and Christian Leaders participated in this prayers service. The prayer ceremony was presided by His Grace Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw; the chairman of the commission. Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap, the executive secretary NCIDE was the main organizer of the prayer service. On this occasion Muslim and Christian Leaders offered prayers for the promotion of interfaith harmony, restoration of peace and progress of the country. They also prayed for the success of armed forces to control the prevailing wave of terrorism and bloodshed in the country and paid homage for their deliberate efforts. Special prayers were also said for the protection of minorities in the country. On this occasion, Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw stressed upon the need to foster peace and harmony not only within our families but also in our neighborhoods so that peace may prevail in our society. He urged all the participants to be more vigilant against those who wish to separate us. Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap, in his message congratulated the efforts of all the participants for coming together for this prayer service to mark the Pakistan Day. At the end of the Prayer service all the participants recited peace prayer of St. Francis of Assisi while holding candles in their hands. Religious leaders who were present for this prayer service were as following: Fr. Pascal Paulus, Fr. Lazar Aslm, Fr. Fiaz Rafiq, Fr. Nakash, Fr. Fiaz Rafiq, Fr. Nakahs, Allama Dr. Badar Munir, Hafiz Arif Noori, Moulana Asim Makhdoom, and Qari Khalid Mahmood. Sr. Josphine Michael was also present with three Dominican sisters from the Community of Sisters of Catherine of Siana.
