Liverpool UK: December 22, 2017. (PCP) Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar, Founder Minority Inqilabi Tehreek, Ex-MPA Sindh and Ex-Chairman Standing Committee on Minorities Affairs Sindh Assembly demands PML N and oppositions parties to amend constitution for giving rights to the minority community to elect their own representative with direct vote. He said Government has again failed to fulfill the hopes of religious minority community of Pakistan as their hope and demand devastated with the passage of Bill of Constitution (Amendment) Act, 2017. He said before 1999 minorities had the right to elect their representative through direct balloting but General Musharraf introduced new reform. Since the time, minorities find these reforms ‘undemocratic’ for this system does not meet the norms of democracy. He said that 98 National Assembly constituencies had a significant number of minority voters in Pakistan and in 23 of these constituencies they had substantial chances of victory. He said that direct elections for the minority candidates is only solution as the majority is not taking interest to resolve the grievances of the minority community of Pakistan.
