Pakistani Human Right Activist Naveed Walter awarded by Global Human Rights Defence org

Hague: December 14, 2017. (PCP) Human Rights Focus Pakistan’s president Mr. Naveed Walter received the honorable mention an International Human Rights Award from Global Human Rights Defence(GHRD) for his dedication and work for the rights of religious minorities and marginalized in Pakistan. The recognition was presented to him on 12th December 2017 in presence of the audience belonging to different human rights groups, government, embassies and other fields at auditorium of PathéBuitenhof, Buitenhof 20, The Hague. The honorable mention is an acknowledgment for his dedication, commitment and courage in the human rights field. His unlimited efforts are nationally and internationally inspiring. GHRD shared that Naveed Walter started his human rights career in 1988 when he was a college student and led Christian Students Organization (CSO). Touched by the situations that religious minorities where facing in Pakistan, he founded Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) in 1994. His mission with HRFP is to promote and protect human rights with special focus on religious minorities. Since its foundation, the organization has had several success stories. As a human rights activist on the ground, Mr. Naveed Walter is addressing issues of religious minorities and marginalized groups of Pakistan at local, national and international forums. In his address Mr. Walter said that he will carry on his efforts to make a change in society until the human rights of religious minorities and marginalized groups are restored according to the vision of the founding father of Pakistan, Muhammed Ali Jinnah; “You are free; you are free to go to your temples. You are free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste or creed—that has nothing to do with the business of the state.”
