Interfaith Solidarity with the victims of Bomb Blast at Kot Lakhpat Lahore

Lahore: July 27, 2017. (PCP) An Interfaith Prayer service was organized by the National commission for Interreligious Dialogue and Ecumenism (Catholic Bishops’ Conference – Pakistan) in solidarity with the 17 civilians and 9 police officers who lost their lives in Lahore suicide attack and injuring 56 persons at Kot Lakhpat Lahore on Jusy 24, 2017. Three Christians also lost their lives in this sad incident. This prayer service was led by Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap, the executive secretary of NCIDE. A number of religious leaders from Muslim, Hindu and Christian communities participated in this prayer service. Fr. Francis Nadeem condemned the terrorist attack and called upon the attention of the authorities that extremist banned groups are using our young people for destruction therefore we need to join hands despite our religio-political or cultural difference and save our children from this demon. The religious leaders in their messages emphasized that we all need to stand together firmly as one with government officials in every possible way to fight against extremism. They further stated that although life is uncertain but due to security situation in the country, the citizens are more vulnerable. We thus pray together that as a nation we might be granted tolerance, acceptance, wisdom and peace. May God give strength to the families of the victims to endure the loss of their loved ones and speedy recovery for the injured. During the prayer service candles were lit to remember the victims of this terrorist attack. Among the participants of this prayer service were Fr. Francis Nadeem, Fr. Qaiser Feroz , Capuchin Brothers, Mufti Ashiq Hussain, Moulana Makhdoom Asim, Pandit Bhaggat Lal, Major Saleem Yousaf, Sohail Ahmaad raza, Raja Asghar, Mr. Shahbaz, Shakil Francis, Qamar Daniel and Sunil John.
