Faisalabad: May 9, 2017. (PCP) Though the government has introduced several statutes and protection mechanism for the women but the media reports are recording hundreds of incidents of violent attack on women across the country that shows regressive trends in Pakistan towards women rights. Such analysis is produced by the M.Phil. Research Scholar Samra Naqsh and Sonia Naqsh of Government College (GC) University Faisalabad during their research work ‘Context Analysis of Women Rights: Laws and Enforcement’. ‘Obviously, women are holding visible positions in law making bodies but still far away to get recognition and acknowledgement as an equal citizen with equal opportunities’, such findings were revealed by Sonia Naqsh. ‘The passing of the statutes concerned to protect women rights without the strong implementation mechanism are the futile one endeavour that requires the political will and attention of the implementing forces for the effectiveness of laws’, Samra Naqsh suggested. ‘The dream of achieving the equality of rights and equity cannot be realized with our increasing the numbers of women in state institutions as the Gender Parity Report of Punjab 2017 shows a very less number of women in women concerned state institutions’, Shazia George a representative of Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW). ‘The Civil Society Organizations in Pakistan are appreciating the good gestures of the government for emplacing the mechanism to protect mechanism but the people are kept unaware about these available mechanisms due to which very less number of women are approaching and utilizing the mechanism resultantly not contributing to change the lot of women folk in Pakistan’, Naseem Anthony a student of M. Phil. Research Scholar Political Science Department Government College (GC) University Faisalabad.
