42 Christians charged on terrorism after Youhanabad Church blasts protests face trial

Lahore: February 20, 2017. (PCP) Police registered case against 500-600 unknown Christians in terrorism charges when protests erupted after twin suicide blast in two Churches in Christian residential area named Youhanabad in Lahore in March 2015. Twin suicide attacks on Churches in Youhanabad killed dozens and injured more than Christian worshipers on which angry Christian took to streets. The situation worsened during protest when police wanted to safe two Muslim facilitators of suicide bombers who were identified by local Christians and taken in custody. As a reaction mob justice entered in protest and someone threw petrol on two Muslim facilitators of suicide bombers and burnt them alive. The Nishtar Colony Police Station declared two Islamists and facilitators of suicide bombers innocent and registered case against unknown persons on burning alive Mohammad Naeem and Mohammad Baber Numan. Nishtar Colony Police Station arrested 84 Christians and filed charges of murder and terrorism against 42 Christians among arrested. Three Christian human right activists and NGO workers were named as leaders who instigated violence which ended in burning alive two Muslim militants. Today on February 20th was hearing of 42 Christian arrested in protest but bail was given to any one by anti-terrorism court judge.
