Karachi: November 19, 2016. (PCP) In a press note issued by Central Secretariat of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC on meeting of Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby with Advisor of Foreign Affair Sartaj Aziz have been strongly condemned by PCC leaders because Archbishop is supposed to look into matters of Church of Pakistan first instead of making political appointments during his tour to Pakistan. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said “Church of Pakistan Bishops have been selling Church properties for vested interests which required immediate attention of Archbishop of Canterbury but he is making political headlines which express that he is protecting ill doing and acts of land mafia bishops in Pakistan” The Bishops of Church of Pakistan of dioceses of Karachi, Lahore, Hyderabad, Peshawar, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Multan and Raiwind are involved in sale of valuable properties of Churches and making millions of dollars for their families from decades. There are dozens of cases against Bishops of Church of Pakistan in lower and higher courts of Pakistan on illegally selling Church properties which have been duly brought in notice of Archbishop of Canterbury but no action haven been taken in this regard? Bishops of Church of Pakistan under Archbishop of Canterbury are openly participating in political meetings of PML (N), PPP, PTI, MQM and others for their protection on crimes of selling Church properties but no action is taken against them so far. The congregation of Church of Pakistan expected that visit of Archbishop of Canterbury will stop sale of Church properties but his Excellency Justin Wilby is enjoying political meetings in Pakistan. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said “statement of Sartaj Aziz is not fact that Christians have representation in parliament because Christians are not enjoying voting rights to elect their leaders under system imposed on them” Nazir Bhatti added “If Archbishop Welby failed to stop his bishops of Church of Pakistan to sell valuable Church properties then Christian will assume that his office is fully involved in this land mafia” It is on record that Bishops of Church of Pakistan and their affiliates make millions of dollars from selling church properties and then flee from Pakistan and settle in Western countries and commission business with that money.
