GCIC President Sajan George condemn the despicable act of closing down of Christian destitute home in Thyagarthi, Shimoga district in India.

Banglore: October 15, 2006. Lourd Matha , Pasan Prawsad Ashramam, a destitute home, in Thyagarathi village near sagar was sealed by the Sagar police and arrested the visitors and organizers of the destitute home. The visitors and office bearers are arrested and detained in the Sagar Police station . An FIR is registered against the Christians associated with the destitute home under CRP 420/368/143/340/346. The arrested include , Moses Appan,Chackochan,Sibi,Baby and his wife Lovely and Sr Agness. The Sagar police in a late night swoop arrested the destitute officials and taken them into police custody on 14 th October. The ashram officials were receiving veiled threats by the Hindu radicals for last one year. The radicals finally upstaged a fake forced conversion and human organ trafficking allegation against the destitute home. The Sagar police under the influence of radicals sealed the home and forcefully moved 22 inmates to the hospital. The sagar police is threatening the arrested that they would frame serious charges against the arrested, if any attempt is made to intimate the outside world. Lourd Matha destitute home is a part of 130 destitute homes run by Akasha Paravakal by Fr George Kuttikal
