Bishop Rufin Anthony was strong supporter of Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti

Toronto: October 18, 2016. (PCP) International Christian Voice ICV Chairman Mr. Peter Bhatti commenting on death of Bishop Rufin Anthony said “It was with a heavy heart that I would like to inform Canadian Pakistani Christians that Bishop Rufin Anthony, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Rawalpindi-Islamabad has gone to be with the Lord. He served the Lord for almost 30 years and now rests in peace with our Heavenly Father. Bishop Rufin Anthony was 76 years old. “Bishop Anthony was a great friend of our family and he was a very strong supporter of Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti. He stood by Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti throughout his struggle for peace and equality in Pakistan” said Peter Bhatti Bishop Rufin Anthony himself played an extremely vital role in the prosperity of our community in Pakistan. He served as a spiritual director at St. Pius X Seminary in Quetta and as a professor at the Major Seminary of Christ the King in Karachi. Within his ministry he served as the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies. Later he held the position of the Rector of St. Thomas the Apostle Minor Seminary in Faisalabad and the major seminary in Karachi. He was serving as the General Secretary of Pakistan Catholic Bishops’ Conference and was the Chairman of the Catholic Youth Commission. Peter Bhatti said that Bishop Anthony will be direly missed by our community but we stand proud for all that he accomplished throughout his life on earth.
