Chiniot, Pakistan: June 9, 2016. (PCP) Pakistan Christian Congress PCC Punjab Council Chief Organizer Mr. Akram Waqar Gill visited Chenab Nagar where two religious communities entered in a row on a graveyard owned by Christian community. Chenab Nagar is a town in district Chiniot formerly known as “Rabwa” and head headquarter of Ahmadiyya Muslims who were declared non-Muslims during ZA Bhutto government under 2nd Amendment in constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Christians are living in newly named Chenab Nagar from decades side by side with Ahmadiyya community in complete harmony with three residential colonies. After naming “Rabwa” to be Chenab Nagar and declaring Ahmadiyya community as non-Muslims, headquarters of Ahmadiyya were shifted to United Kingdom but population of this remote town remained 98% of Ahmadiyya followers. The Sunni majority of Pakistani Muslim sect after declaring Ahmadiyya community as non-Muslim not even changed name of town but acquired land and great number of Sunni Muslims moved in this town to keep an eye on religious activities of Ahmadiyya community. Christian leadership in general and Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have been always condemning incidents of persecution and victimization of Ahmdiyya community under all discriminatory laws which target religious minorities in Pakistan but unfortunately in a town of Ahmadiyya community majority, the graveyard of Christian community was attempted to occupy by Ahmadiyya people. Ahmadiyya Community illegal occupied half of land of Christian graveyard which spread anger among more than three thousand Christians of Chenab Nagar. Mr. Akram Waqar Gill, Chief Organizer of Punjab PCC visited Chenab Nagar and invited Ahmadiyya community leaders to refrain from grabbing graveyard land of Christians. In reaction, the Ahmadiyya community leadership laid off Christian employees in their health and education centers instead of reconciliation. The Sunni Muslim minority in Chenab Nagar have filed a petition in Lahore High Court against opening of Ramzan Bazar on a plot owned by Ahmadiyya community because Sunni Community views it un-Islamic to open government outlet on Ahmadiyya land for cheap commodities sale in their Holy month. In such situation when hate is at peak in Pakistan towards Ahmadiyya community by Sunni Muslims, to create unhealthy relations with Christians by Ahmadiyya community cannot be understood. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have urged Ahmadiyya Community leadership to direct Chenab Nagar Ahmadiyya leaders to not attempt to grab land of Christian graveyard.
