New York: May 17, 2016. (PCP) Mr. Tariq Javed, Executive Director, International Community Care Foundation (ICCF) and members of ICCF condemns Orange Line Metro Train Project in Lahore -Pakistan.
The Punjab government of Pakistan plans to take over the land of four churches (Cathedral Church, Naulakha Churchy, St Andrew’s Church and Bohar Wala Church) in order to build the Orange Line Metro Train project.
The Christian Community in the surrounding area is steadfast in their focus on keeping these churches as they are part of Lahore’s history. If their churches are not being destroyed in fire as on September 21, 2012 by Muslim fundamentalists, the government is destroying the Christians churches by plowing through their properties and destroying the buildings. Of course, this land is prime property, but when government buildings are located in the route of a train they suddenly are able to redirect the project but not when churches are involved.
The demonstration held today by Pakistani Christians in Lahore created quite an uprising but truly who cares. Not the government, not the United Nations, --where is the outrage from the Christian Communities, where is the outrage from caring world?
