Film Maalik of Ashir Azeem Gill banned in Pakistan

Islamabad: April 27, 2016. (PCP) The Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage issued a notice today which said ‘In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 9 of the motion Pictures Ordinance, 1979, the federal Government is pleased to declare Urdu feature “Maalik” in respect of which a Censor Certificate No.54/M-I/2016 has earlier been granted, as uncertified film in the whole of Pakistan with immediate effect.’ The Sindh government had on April 26, 2016, also banned this Urdu film but within few hours took back its decision The producer, director and actor Ashir Azeem Gill who is a Pakistani–Canadian rise to fame through television series “Dhuwan” in 1994, has released “Maalik” through Media Hub two weeks back; The film stars Ashir Azeem, Farhan Ally Agha, Sajid Hassan, Hassan Niazi, Adnan Shah, Rashid Farooqi, Ehteshamuddin and Tatmain ul Qulb are in lead roles in Maalik. The Special Forces of Pakistan provided heavy equipment like Tanks and Artillery weaponry to shoot the film to producer of “Maalik” and it was praised by ISPR in a social media not after release of it on April 8, 2016, in cinemas of Pakistan. The story of Maalik based on an Afghan family that escapes from the ravages of the Soviet war in Afghanistan and settles in Karachi. As retired officer starts a private security company in Karachi which is joined by other retiring officers. On other hand a school master who suffers greatly under a cruel Feudal lord and settles in Karachi and finally the Feudal Lord who becomes the Chief Minister of Sindh and unleashes a reign of terror on all that cross his path. It is noted that one scene in film “Maalik” in which incident like killing of Salman Taseer is filmed became reason to ban it countrywide.
