Sheikhupura: April 15, 2016. (PCP) The wife of slain Christian man Nazir Masih along with her son Iqbal Masih, the complainant of the murder case, met with Sardar Mushtaq Gill, human rights defender for legal assistance. The prominent human rights activist Mr. Khalid Gill who pressed upon Punjab Administration to register murder case when it was reluctant to take action against influential Muslim killers was also present when victim family requested LEAD for free legal assistance. Nazir Masih was attacked with a chopping knife on April 5, leaving him injured with a cut throat and mouth and killed at the spot. Nazir, a Catholic, was with a Muslim friend, Nawaz, at the time of attack who was left seriously injured by the attack. The dead body has been demonstrated through the streets in protest at the police's reluctance to arrest the alleged killers. The complainant in murder case Iqbal Masih told that the alleged killers had filed bail petition in Ferozwala courts and got interim relief of bail to join the investigation in which next date of hearing had been fixed for April 16.Iqbal gave power of attorney in favor of LEAD's lawyers to represent him in the court as a prosecution lawyers. LEAD constituted a special legal penal including Mr. Kashif Alexander Rajpoot, Mr. Aric John and Mr. Suleman Iqbal advocates high courts. "We ask for justice, we are too poor and weak to fight for justice," said Rashidan Bibi widow of the slain Catholic man. The picture of this killing of poor Catholic man is a sign that Christians are not safe in Pakistan and there is a ambiguous advocacy on behalf of such victims because of poor investigation and huge pressure on victim family who are being pressurized for compromise. Hence after a huge pressure and threats ,the victim family recorded statement in favor of one alleged nominated accused.
