Faisalabad: January 29, 2016. (PCP) The Civil Society activists and Christian leaders took to streets and condemned Punjab Local Government Ordinance 2015, in which reserved seats women, youth, labor and technocrats are not proportional to population. The Christians in Punjab are second biggest community after Muslims but it surprised them when schedule of selection was announced by Punjab Election Commission as their seats were decreased comparing to seats which they enjoyed under separate electorate when they elected their councilors in city governments in previous elections. The said Ordinance increased Muslim seats from 100% to 300% but decreased reserved seats which was not noted by Christians who voted for Muslim leaders Prominent Christian leader from Faisalabad, Mr. Robin Daniel approached other civil society organization, religious leaders and political leaders on joint meetings to demand representation on reserved seats proportional to population. In Faisalabad special seats for minorities in district council and city district government were decrease from 28 to 10. The protest was held at Ketchery Bazar chock Faisalabad, organized by National Minorities Alliance of Pakistan (NMAP), Aawaz District Forum Faisalabad (SAP) and Ittehad Labor Union today 28 January 2016.
