Another Christian killed by Police torture within two weeks in Punjab province of Pakistan

MURIDKE: January 27, 2016. (PCP) A Christian man, Tariq Masih, father of seven children murdered on Monday January 25, 2016, allegedly after being abducted and tortured by police officials at Muridke police station. Rukhsana Bibi wife of Tariq Masih filed an official complaint against four alleged perpetrators Tuheed-Ur-Rehman and Muhammad Nawaz and two unidentified, the FIR No.36/16 under sections 302/364,148/149 PPC has been registered against the alleged accused but no one has been arrested yet now. Tariq’s family attributed his death to police torture, alleging that he was abducted and murdered then they threw the dead body at home. According to one police Official of City Police Station Muridke, Tariq Masih was arrested by Police officials of Police Station Satra Sialkot and claimed died on way due to a heart attack and he also told that they have received Postmortem report. Rev. Hezkial Sharafat, a Priest at Muridke Church, he talked with Sardar Mushtaq Gill , Human Rights Defender who heads LEAD, a group who provide free legal aid and advocacy, on phone on behalf of Tariq’s family and requested for legal assistance for the victim family. He said his wife is under heavy burden of grief and unable to talk. “I pledged to stand with Tariq’s family and I will strive for justice because I know he was Christian and for this reason he was killed,” assured Sardar Mushtaq Gill Advocate
