ASC strongly condemns the desecration of Siri Guru Granth Sahib in Punjab and Rajasthan

USA: October 22, 2015. (PCP) The American Sikh Council (ASC) strongly condemns the heinous crimes of desecration of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the last several days across Punjab and Rajasthan. These are not acts of a deranged individual but a planned strategy to not only destabilize Punjab but also create enough fissures in the social fabric of the state so that when the rural Sikhs of Punjab rise in unarmed protest, the Indian government can clamp down on all peaceful dissent with the use of force with the help of the Army eventually. The current Akali/BJP Government have crossed all the limits of religious transgression and given up their conscience, for the sake of power and money. Badal conspired with the Indian government and was involved in the attack on Darbar Sahib in 1984 to derail the Sikh movement. Furthermore he collaborated with then Director General of Police, K.P.S.Gill and held meetings to plan the slaughter of Sikh youth, as recorded by Gill in his autobiography. It behooves all morally upstanding ‘Guru’s Sikhs’ to continue to peacefully protest the unforgivable desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and completely boycott the Badal clan and all their supporters. The Sikhs in Punjab are fed up of the petty shenanigans of the so called Jathedars, appointed illegally by the SGPC. These Jathedars have proven to be nothing but puppets of the Badal regime. If any Jathedars are to be appointed, they must be appointed by the Sarbat Khalsa, consisting of members from all over the world. No other mechanism for appointing Jathedars if any, can be acceptable to the Sarbat Khalsa. The American Sikh Council (ASC) advises the Indian government, the Punjab government, and associated functionaries to pay heed to the genuine demands of the Sikhs and bring the guilty to justice as a priority, failing which the festering wounds will only infect others around them and will not bode well for a country, which claims to be the largest democracy in the world. The American Sikh Council (ASC) cautions the vigilant Sikh diaspora that unless Sikhs wake up and unite under one flag, and approach the world community for justice, the Sikhs will continue to suffer in Punjab and their voices will be stifled, just like it was done earlier prior to and after the Indian army attack on Darbar Sahib and other Gurdwaras in June 1984.
