Islamabad: October 13, 2015. (PCP) A Rights Group based outside of Pakistan plans to engage liberal attorneys in Pakistan to present evidence to repeal blasphemy laws becoming a party in a case of blasphemy accused sentence to death in Supreme Court of Pakistan. Pakistan’s Blasphemy Law is being used as a potent legal instrument for intimidation, violence and enacting personal vendettas, and specific persecution of minorities. The Activists of said group in a press statement adds “This campaign is for our client in Multan, Pakistan who is facing the death penalty after being charged with blasphemy accusations. For security reasons we cannot name the client or his lawyer” “The charges are very specific. Our client has allegedly stated a few heretical statements. We have a copy of those statements. He was charged with Blasphemy Law- 295-C of Pakistan Penal Code based on a fatwa given on these statements. A fatwa is a legal judgement given a by an Islamic Jurist. Our thesis is even if these allegations be true - his speech is not punishable by death. For this purpose we want to take the case to every Islamic Jurist in the country we can and take it internationally via email and get fatwas in defense that will get him a reprieve from death penalty” reads press release The activist plan on going to every major Madrassah (Seminary) and collecting Fatwas (Legal Opinion) and traditional texts that state the authentic religious stance. We will be partnering with juri consults and creating a narrative for our client in the courts that include authoritative resources including juri consults. “We are seeking a waiver of the death penalty for our client and in the process creating a precedent that changes the existing judicial narrative and interpretation of the law based on our research. We are not just fighting this case, but a complete narrative of hate and persecution” told one activists to Pakistan Christian Post
