Measures required for representation of religious minorities and women in LB elections 2015

Lahore: September 16, 2015. (PCP) The human rights defenders, political activists and peace builders belonging to the academia, civil society organizations, political parties and media both male and female got together in seminar and interactive theatre performance on “*Equal Opportunities and Citizenship for All*” to expressed their grave concern over the ineffective representative of women, religious minorities, peasant and youth in coming local body election 2015 have capped upon the immediate attention of the state institutions, political parties and all other stakeholders to give special attention for equal citizenship and opportunities to marginalized groups and communities in country. This event was organized by Ecumenical Commission for Human Development, a faith based Christian advocacy, humanitarian aid and development agency, dedicated to build a world free from poverty, disease and injustice and to support women, religious minorities and other excluded groups; where they are suffer discrimination, oppression and persecution as a consequence of their faiths and gender in Pakistan. The speakers of the event include Mr. Souniel Mehboob, Suba Sroya, Tariq Awan, Ihtsham Ravi, Hafiz Muhammad Nauman Hamid and other honorable guests. The key speakers were extremely articulate in enlightening the participants on the socio political situation of the country, the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and lack of equal citizenship to religious minorities, ineffective representation of women, religious minorities and other marginalized groups in local body election in Punjab province, *Composite Heritage*: Way forward towards equal citizenship & peace building in the country, role of religious leadership.
