Old Christian Couple waited for four months for getting their own home back

Toba Tek Singh, Pakistan: July 18, 2015. (PCP) Gulzar Masih and his wife Hadayat Bibi (old couple) live in their home at Chak No. 189 GB Patli, Toba Tek Singh for about forty years. Four months ago their neighboring people entered their house and wrecked demolished it to the ground and grabbed the major part of the land. Mr. Sadaf Saddique Advocate pleaded their case in court of law without any cost; Everyone in the village feared the couple for not registering the case. Helpless, the couple went to the house of the chief ministry and sat in front of their house to protest against this discrimination and persecution. After four months the only relief they got a letter from someone from chief ministry’s house directing the DCO to look into the matter and DCO himself is not competent authority for it. It was lucky that the couple met with me in the courts and we were able to track their case to the right direction filing the case to the police station and the court of law for their illegal dispossession. After a long legal fight we were able to get the couple their home back and the damages were ordered to be given to the couple for the house damage. Still there is a problem that their some portion of land for which they had paid the money but were not documented on legal documents is to be sorted out. I trust that it would be difficult to get the land back which is not on their land registration certificate, but it is true that the money was paid for that land portion also. We will continue to stand upright for the cause and will see that we able to prove that money was paid and the land was not transferred accordingly.
