Malpractice and theft created crisis in SEPCO

LARKANA: July 11, 2015. (Nazir Siyal) Sukkur Electric Power Company-SEPCO facing crises over 75 billion loss and a sinking ship, the concerned officials are behind its destruction by power theft and other malpractices, this he stated by the Chief Executive Officer-CEO Muzaffar Ali Abbasi at the Pakistan Wapda Hydro Labor Union Iftar Dinner here at Sambara Inn Larkana. Abbasi unveiled that SEPCO despite having 0.7 million consumers lacking of recovery and still 90 billion outstanding dues are to be recovered against thousands of defaulters. He said SEPCO officials and workers have done nothing to recover the dues for strengthening the institution but weakening it. He urged senior officers to shift their experiences to their subordinates and guide them so that performance of the department could be better. He said it is a big challenge for them to make SEPCO profitable like MEPCO, while CEO warned the concerned officials among all among LS, Line men, Meter readers and other staff to gear up the efforts sincerely and get SEPCO out of crises, otherwise survival will be quit difficult and further stern action will be taken against those inflicting loss to SEPCO, he said. He expressed concern over the disowning the SEPCO infrastructure and related matters, he regretted that SEPCO officials and workers have left to own the electricity and stop its loss. He informed that due to not chasing the targets, Two CEOs and four XENS of SEPCO have lost their jobs and facing suspension, he was optimistic that SEPCO moving toward the success. Central leader Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Labor Union Abdul Latif Nizamani in his speech said that collective efforts will be taken to make SEPCO profitable, but despite of its loss it has provided the bonus and other benefits to its employees which is extra- ordinary services. He urged upon the all employees to work hard and put their hundred percent in work to achieve the targets and otherwise it would be hard to face the upcoming challenges. Earlier Regional Chairman Nisar Ahmed Shaikh welcomed the all guests, on the occasion, PPP MNA Mir Aamir Magsi, Commissioner Larkana Ghulam Akbar Leghari, DIG Larkana Sain Rakhio Mirani, Khalid Chandio and other notables attended the event.
