Bail applications rejected of 35 accused in lynching Christian couple case

Lahore: June 3, 2015. (PCP) Haroon Latif judge of Anti-Terrorist Court yesterday on 2nd June 20015 dismissed the bail petitions of 35 accused persons including Yousuf Gujar owner of Brick Kiln who were involved in Double Murder case of Burnt Alive Christian Couple Shahzad and Shama in Kot Radha Kishan. The Voice Society, an NGO which is headed by Aneeqa Maria advocate, represented Shama’s father Mukhtar Masih in court Through Aneeqa Maria, Riaz Anjum and Tahir Gul advocates’ High court. It is pertinent to mention that 104 accused of this case are in jail. The Voice Society is pursuing Double Murder case of Burnt Alive Christian Couple in Kot Radha Kishan. Shazad Masih and his wife Shama Bibi, who was five months pregnant, were tortured by an enraged mob over a false accusation of burning pages of the Qur’an; they were then burned to death on November 4. They were bonded laborers at the brick kiln, which meant that they were unable to leave their home after trouble first erupted, due to heavy debt. Aneeqa Maria says that we are satisfied on proceedings in court and we are sure that justice will be done.
