Sub; Arrests of Pakistani Christian asylum seekers registered with UNHCR by Bangkok Police
His Excellency,
I, the undersigned, Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, Chief of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC, based in city of Philadelphia in USA, wish to draw your kind attention on arrests of Pakistani Christian asylum seekers who are duly registered with United Nations Human Rights Commission on Refugees UNHCR Bangkok office.
I wish to submit that Pakistani Christians are not economic immigrants in Thailand but a socially and politically oppressed and persecuted community in Islamic Republic of Pakistan now staying in transit in royal state of Thailand waiting to be transferred to countries which will accept them as Refugees under international norms and laws enshrined by United Nations Refugee Agency.
More than 12,000 Pakistani Christian asylum seekers are contributing millions of dollars in Thailand economy with payment of houses and other utility bills while waiting decision on their asylum applications with office of UNHCR in different cities of Thailand.
It is unfortunate that UNHCR offices in Thailand are failed to seek extension in visas of Pakistani Christian asylum seekers while according to International rules of Refugee under UN, it is bound to take decision on asylum applications with 90 days that any countries immigration rules may not effect but UNHCR offices in Thailand are giving 3 years’ time for decision.
The Thailand police are arresting Pakistani Christian asylum seekers from Churches and grocery stores in different cities of Thailand under immigration rules with women and children where they not have enough resources to engage in legal battle nor they intend to enter in legal issues with host country.
I assure your honor that Pakistani Christians asylum seekers are not any threat of law and order to Thailand administration but seek your mercy to stay in your royal land as transit land to migrate to other countries.
The Pakistani Christian asylum seekers have fled from Pakistan after genocide and to take refuge in Western countries for safety and security of their lives.
Therefore, I appeal your honor on behalf of Pakistani Christians as token of mercy and human rights to order Thailand police to not make unnecessary arrests under immigration rules but timeframe of dates given by UNHCR on their asylum application may be considered as their stay in your royal state.
Thanks.
