Faisalabad: January 30, 2015. (PCP) Lives of Christians whose houses were demolished by the Town Municipal Administration Samundri (Faisalabad) in Chak No. 216 GB Jalalabad under the pressure of some local Muslims are still under threat. They demanded that the Government must reconstruct our houses and take severe action against those who demolished our houses. This was demanded by the persecuted Christians on the visit of Ms. Shunila Ruth Member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab and President Minority Wing of Pakistan Tehrik-e- Insaaf on her visit along with Ms. Neelam Ashraf President Women Wing Lahore and Professor Anjum James Paul, Chairman Pakistan Minorities Teachers’ Association. The local Christians said that they are harassed. A few days ago Asghar and his friend attacked our houses. Both of them abused us our ladies. If there is any theft we are blamed. Our children are being demoralized. We are asked to swear all times and applications of theft are reported against us in the Tarkhani police station. We are poor and work as brick kiln. We hardly earn our living. We are forced to work freely in the houses and land. We are homeless and without shelter. Our local MPA Mr. Arif Mehmood Gill and MNA Mr. Shahbaz Babar have not come to us. They ask us to go to Christian members of the parliament. It is a very shameful act that they come to us only during elections times because they need our votes. They have not played their role in our case. There are chances of communal clashes.
Ms. Shunila Ruth consoled children, women and men and said that she would take the matter on every platform. She further said that if the matter is not addressed then there will be protest and sit in against the local government. She accused that local government deliberately demolished the houses of the poor Christians with a biased approach otherwise there would have been allotment of plots to the Christians before the renovation of the hospital. I am so astonished to see that the hospital looks like cattle shed and is still without windows, walls and doors. She demanded the local government to reconstruct the houses of the victimized Christians immediately.
