Peshawar: January 19, 2015. (PCP) Patron-in-chief of Pakistan Hindu Council Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has said that to ensure protection of Minorities, specially Hindu community, Hindu Council would strengthen cooperation with the state institutions. According to a press release issued on Monday, he made these remarks during a meeting with the provincial administration of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, here at Peshawar. The meeting was in the context of Supreme Court's recent orders on January 13, while hearing the issue of non-implementation of detailed decision on June 19 last year for the protection of minorities’ rights.
The statement further informed that the Hindu delegation was led by Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani while Home Secretary, Law Secretary, RPO, IG Police and other high-ups represented the KPK Government.
The administration of the KPK reportedly agreed to acknowledge the minority population by increasing current 3% quota in government jobs to 5%, urging the minorities to apply for government jobs.
In addition, the cooperation of Pakistan Hindu Council and minorities representatives was also urged for the registration of Hindu temples, religious places and for the formation of special task force and security plan as well.
On the occasion, the KPK administration also showed interest to ensure recovery of Shri Param Hans Ji Maharaj's Samadhi and other Hindu religious places being occupied illegally, the press statement further informed the Hindu Council delegation was also invited to personally visit the holy place accompanied by the administration.
Three member bench of apex court, headed by Chief Justice Supreme Court, had ordered the provincial and federal governments last week on January 13 to consult Pakistan Hindu Council to find solution of problems being faced by minorities across the country and due to which, Pakistan Hindu Council has started a series of meeting across the country, said Dr. Ramesh Kumar.
