Hyderabad: January 19, 2015. (Abbas Kassar) A year has passed to Daulatpur tragedy in which 19 school children and 2 of their teachers and van driver were crushed under wheels of Bahria Town dumper on 15 January 2014 between Nawabshah and Kazi Ahmed when they were coming back after winning the quiz. The children and the teachers belonged to Bright Future High School Daulatpur.
The students killed in the accident were Syed Israr and his sister Iqra, Atif Hussain, Sadia Bibi, Humera, Yaseen Masood, Hamza, Nouman, Fariha Akram, Mansoorul Haq, Fariha Jamshed, Anees, Yaseen Arain, Uffaq, Arbaz, Hasees, Moazam. Teachers Sharmeen and Qari Bashir and the van’s driver Sachal Korai were also killed. The school’s principal Zakia Khanzada was among the injured.
No one including driver of killer dump truck was arrested so far and so no one punished. Perhaps for the reason that the dumper belonged to Malik Riaz the most wealthy and influential person and a close friend of head of a big political party. Sindh government had made announcement for a government job to each heir of Shaheeds, judicial inquiry of the tragedy and to punish the culprits. But the case has since not mover farther and the name of owner of Bahria town was also not included in FIR rather the Sindh government has been showering its favors on Bahria town owner as according to reports published in Sindhi press Malik Riaz has been allotted around 100,000 acres of land in various districts of the province making him the biggest landlord, biggest than historically big landlords like Bhuttos, Khuhros, Pir Pagara, Jatois, Chandios and others. He has been allotted 60,000 acres land in Karachi, 28000 acres in Hyderabad, 15000 in Nawabshah and 10,000 in Sukkur.
