Charter of 'Hindu' Demands passed unanimously

Islamabad: October 14, 2014. (PCP) Pakistan Hindu Council, during its general body meeting, has passed a resolution unanimously, which demanded from Government of Pakistan and all political parties of Pakistan that constitutional amendment may be approved to cast dual vote by Non-Muslims to elect their representative of national and provincial assemblies of Pakistan as well as increase the reserved seats as per 5% Hindu population out of total Pakistan population, said a press statement issued on Tuesday. According to details, a large number of representatives from the Hindu community including Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Member National Assembly and Patron-in-Chief, Chela Ram Kewlani, President and Dr. Deepak Kumar Bhagchandani, General Secretary PHC were present on the occasion and demanded to appoint a Chairman Evacuee Trust Board from any reputed Hindu person and nomination of any two reputed Hindu persons as board members of the trust from each province of Pakistan. It was also demanded that Karachi Hindu Gymkhana to be handed over to local Hindu community through Pakistan Hindu Council on urgent bases. We strongly demand from Government of Pakistan and Government of Sindh to be approved the 5% quota in all Government jobs as per 5% population of Hindu community in Pakistan which was already announced by the previous Government of Pakistan but it could not be implemented till today, said Dr. Deepak Kumar Bhagchandani, General Secretary of Pakistan Hindu Council while presenting the charter draft, adding that there must be representation of Pakistan Hindu Council in the recently-announced Committee of Minorities Issues by the Chief Minister of Sindh. Hindu participants have urged the Federal Government and provincial Governments to take immediate actions to follow the Order of Supreme Court for the protection of minorities and demanded that the Child Marriage Restraint Bill 2013 must be implemented with immediate effects. The participants also requested Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, MNA and Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Hindu Council, to present the Charter of Demand to the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at his earliest so that grievances of Hindus across the country, particularly in Sindh, could be addressed.
