Karachi: September 6, 2014. (PCP) The unidentified assailants opened fire on home of Mr. Aqil Sheraz, Chairman of Console Human Right International, a civil society entity defending rights of poor and downtrodden communities in Pakistan. Mr. Aqil Sheraz was forced to flee from Pakistan and took refuge in Malaysia but Islamists are threatening to his family members who are in Pakistan According to sources of Pakistan Christian Post, the leader of Console Human Right International was attacked in Dhabeji, Sindh on February 14, 2014, when he was holding a Free Medical Camp for poor and needy. He was also attacked in vicinity of his workplace in Karachi while police reports were registered but culprits were never arrested. Some unknown Islamists also gave life threats to Mr. Aqil Sheraz and his all NGO members when they were on way to protest in Saddar, Karachi against incident of Bdami Bagh Lahore where Muslim mob attacked Christian colony. Talking with PCP, Mr. Sheraz told “I would like to draw attention all of you towards this mishap, passing over my family in the last month i.e. October, 2013. The incident took place at my native village at SOHDRA, Tehsil Wazirabad,District Gujranwala, Province Punjab-Pakistan, on 04th October, 2013, that one of absconder accused namely WAMIC alias Goshi, along with his companies opened fire at night on my house. Infect my younger brother namely Adil Sheraz is working as president of Console Human rights international trust, Punjab. The above named persons have enmity with him on the basis of given evidence to the police against them in some crime of robbery. In the result of firing my younger, sister and their children are merely safe. First Information Report (FIR) has also been logged against them and police is trying to arrest them. But hide themselves some unknown place and nobody know where about they now a time. The above named accused persons threaten to me, my brother and other family members through cell phone and informed us to face the consequences and the result. They also are creating difficulties in our organizational work in different ways”
