Canadian Christian Association holds 4th Annual Youth Canada Day Basketball 2014

Toronto: July 3, 2014. (PCP) Canadian Christian Association (CCA) held its 4rd Annual Youth Canada Day Basketball Tournament in Oakville, Ont., on June 28, 2014. The program was started with the opening remarks by Prof. Obaid Chaudry, CPA, CMA, CA, (past president CCA) about the tournament, followed by the opening prayer by Mrs. Sheri-Ann Hyatali , which was followed by the Canadian National Anthem. Mr. John Gill, MBA, and president CCA, welcomed all the teams and the guests. In addition, he emphasized the opportunity to network and to have fun. Mr. Sohail Pervaiz, secretary of CCA, also shared his thoughts and encouraged the teams. All the teams were well prepared, which led to very exciting matches. North Burlington Church won the tournament, dethroning the last two years champions, Humberlea Worship Centre. Evangelical Asian Church (EAC) was placed second, Humberlea Worship Centre third, CCA team fourth place, and Ignite was fifth. Senior Pastor, Sarwar Din presented the trophy to North Burlington Church for being the 2014 Champions, Dr. Zari Gill, president of Red Shawl, to Evangelical Asian Church, Mr. Tim Iqbal to Humberlea Worship Centre, Mrs. Anita Bernabas to CCA, and Ansil Hyatali to Ignite team. In addition, promising young stars trophies were give to: Nabeel Gill by Sohail Perbaiz, Emmanuel Chaudry by Nedeem Khokhar and Eve Bernabas by Josephine Chaudry. MVP trophy was awarded to Mark Daud, of North Burlington Church team by Noel Chaudry. Hon. Brad Butt, MP for Mississauga-Streetsville, also attended the tournament and gave words of encouragement to youth and appreciated the work that CCA is doing in the community. CCA thanks all volunteers who helped with the tournament and made it a mega success.
