KARACHI: Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) central vice president Mohammad Saleem Baloch has been missing from Karachi since early Friday morning, party sources and relatives told Daily Times. They claim that he was picked up by law enforcement agencies from Kalakot, while on his way home to Lyari Town. "A white car carrying four armed law enforcement agency personnel picked him up at gun point," alleged his cousin Hakeem Baloch. Hakeem quoted witnesses as saying that a police mobile unit was accompanying the kidnappers. Not a single law enforcement agency, including the local police, has so far confirmed that he is in their custody, he added. "My brother has been missing since early morning. We have approached every relevant authority but they did not tell us about his whereabouts," said Usman Baloch. However, the Lyari police said they had no knowledge of the incident. Meanwhile, a number of political activists protested the disappearance at Karachi Press Club. JWP Secretary General Sen Agha Shahid Bugti demanded the federal government stop arresting political workers from Balochistan and Sindh. "Last month, JWP Deputy Secretary General Rauf Sasoli was abducted from Karachi by law enforcement agencies," he said. "Military authorities have major stakes in the Gwadar Port Project. In fact, military personnel have purchased most of the prime land at very low prices. Over 80 percent of the land in the Gwadar district has been arbitrarily allocated to outsiders, many of them senior army or civilian officials," he alleged.
