Lahore; March 20, 2014. (Fr.Inayat Bernard) “Look at a tree and observe different leaves having their own identity but at the same time connected with its trunk. When you have negative feelings, they are like becoming dry leaves and they should be eliminated and be replaced by good leaves of human qualities” Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw OFM was talking to the minor seminarians in his personal visit to them after assuming the responsibility of the Archbishop of Lahore. In his first meeting, he told them to treat each person and place according to its nature. The sacristy, chapel, dinning room, study hall and their bed has to be treated according to its nature. It will help them to have their own self respect and the respect of other fellow seminarians. After meeting them he celebrated mass with the Rector Fr. Inayat Bernard and the 19 Lahore Archdiocesan and 8 Multan diocesan seminarians. In his short homily in the seminary chapel, he continued that there was an old former formator of the seminary who saw a lot of images of Satan all around. When asked he said that in the market place Satan has won them as some of them are involved in stealing and snatching of things, while others are busy in the evil works and so on. Satan has got them in his fist. But in the seminary he may be more active because the efforts are being made by the seminarians to be holy and on the way to perfection. There the constant struggle has to go on because Satan the devil is active at all times. Archbishop joined in the meal with the students and brought the gift of ice cream for them. The students had an opportunity to be familiar with him and thanked him for his presence with them and his whole evening visit with them. His Grace comes to give his class of Human Development on every Wednesday morning.
