Islamabad: February 1, 2014. (PCP) Ex-Rector International Islamic University Islamabad, Prof. Fateh Mohammad Malik recommended convener World Minorities Alliance, Convener Overseas Assembly Pakistan and Former Federal Minister and Nominee for Nobel Peace Prize Dr. J Salik for the Nobel Peace Prize of this Year on his great efforts for peace. Prof. Fateh Mohammad Malik’s recommendation is the second recommendation for nominating J Salik after eighteen year. It should be remembered that in 1992 The Nobel Peace Committee wrote a letter to our Foreign Ministry that the golden jubilee of Pakistan is coming so to whom would you recommend for Nobel Peace Prize, who had worked for peace in your country. Foreign Ministry sent this letter to all provinces of Pakistan. After 4 years, in 1996 the short listed names of Dr. Abdul Sitaar Edhi and J Salik was there on cabinet agenda. J Salik tried to withdraw his name in the honor of Dr. Abdul Sitaar Edhi but Benazir Bhutto silent him by saying that you can only sit in cabinet but you cannot speak in this regard as it’s the matter of Pakistan not the matter of J Salik, then after suggestion of 14 ministers BB decided that the work of Dr. Abdul Sitaar Edhi is for Pakistanis but J Salik worked world wide for peace and interfaith harmony, and recommend the name of J Salik for the Nobel Peace Prize of the year 1996 for the very first time on 10th April, 1996. Prof. Fateh Mohammad Malik said in his recommendation that I have honour to nominate Mr. Julius Salik for this year’s award. Julius Salik has spent more than thirty years in his brave struggle for peace, liberty and inter-religious harmony. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan, herself a tireless crusader for the rights of the oppressed humanity had aptly observed that “for many Pakistanis, Julius Salik has become the nation’s conscience. But his passion for peace transcends national frontiers.”
