Ottawa, Canada: December 12, 2013. (PCP) A World's Human Rights Day to get awareness about human rights and democracy practices and violation in different countries of the world was arranged by Rev. Majed El Shafie, President and Founder of One Free World International on December 09, 2013 in the Parliament House, Ottawa. Speaking on this event of Human Right Day, Pervez Masih, President, United Christian Federation, Canada also informed the house that Pakistani Christians are suffering silently because of lack of leadership. He also pointed out the number of Christians who have been put behind the bars and killed extra judicially. He further informed that Pakistani fanatics have the weapon of blasphemy law to kill the non-Muslims and Christians and this law is a sword continuously hanging at their heads and it is frequently used against them due to religious hatred. The efforts made by the organization to help persecuted, oppressed and discriminated Christians in Pakistan were also highlighted by him. The participants were further apprised of the activities of the United Christians Federation to provide clean water plants including medical camps being arranged to diagnose several diseases amongst the unprivileged Christian colonies through arrangement of medical camps. The work of the organization was appreciated by the participants. The other members of the UCF who attended this session were Barkat Gill, General Secretary, Pastor Babar Alladittah, Azeem Bhatti, Rohail Massy and Khalid Gill. This session was hosted by Hon. Tim Upaal, Minister of State (Multiculturalism). The others who attended were Hon. Brad Butt, MP, Streetville Mississauga, Hon. Elizabeth May, MP, Gulf Islands, Hon. Joan Crockatt, MP, Calgary Centre, Hon. David Sweat, MP, Hon. David Kilgour, Mathew Mayer and Deputy Director, Office of Religious Freedom. The following groups representing their respective countries also attended: Among participants was Alliance of the Guard of Canadian Values, Machzikei Hadas Congregation, Canadian Coptic Centre, Movement of Democracy in China(Calgary), China Rights Network, Canada, North Korean Refugee Advocate, Copts in the World, Public Affairs Dev. og Taiwanese Canadian Democracy China, Association of Toronto Democracy for Vietnam, Students for a Free Tibet Canada, Falun Gong Human Rights Human Rights Group, The Council for Human Rights in North Korea, Federation for a Democratic China, Taiwan Human Rights Association of China, United Christian Federation in Canada, Human Rights in Iran and Uyghur Canadian Society Representatives of the above organization spoke about the violation of human rights and deprivation of their freedom to practice their faith in their countries. They also informed about their plights and sufferings and their peaceful struggles to stop such violations. . There was also one minute of silence, to pay respect to South African leader Nelson Mandela on his death and leaving a great legacy of freedom. At the end Rev. Majed El Shafie and Hon. Tim Uppal, Minister of State (Multiculturism) appreciated the presentations of all participant organizations and their peaceful struggle against the violation of their fundamental rights in their respective countries.
