Lahore: November 27, 2013. (Fr. Inayat Bernard) 10th November 2013: “O Lord, say because your servant is listening”, were the opening words of Fr. Inayat Bernard’s homily during the mass organized by the Serra Club of Lahore on the 10th of November for the 9th and 10th class 21 students who care from three schools of Lahore. Fr. Inayat Bernard said that God calls the young people to work in his vineyard because they are full of enthusiasm and have several talents. The Serra club arranges two programs a year and the visiting students spend the whole day with the seminarians and feel at home at the seminary. The third year student Amir Shahzad of Multan diocese shared his vocation story in the chapel while another 3rd year student Dawood Akhtar of Lahore Archdiocese shared his vocation story to encourage students to join the seminary. President Nelson Mailk of Serra Club introduced the Serra Club to them. Along with the other five members he said that the main purpose of the Serra Club world over is to promote the diocesan vocations. The Serrians give their time and share their resources for vocation programmes. He further said that from 2004 they have been in contact with parishes, hostels and schools through their visitations, meetings, praying together and distributing printed material. He referred to the vocation of Abraham, Moses, Samuel and especially Mother Mary. He also invited them to offer themselves for the religious service. The 21 students were divided into 4 groups with one seminarian each to show them around St. Mary’s Minor Seminary. They shared their ideas and appreciated the hospitality of the Serra members and seminarians. Some of them pledged to come again on 27th April, 2014 for Come and See programme. The seminarians staged short plays, hymns and skits to highlight the importance of religious vocation of the diocesan priesthood. The Serra Club members welcomed the first year seminarians and distributed black colour T-shirts with the logo of SERRA CLUB at the back. All joined in lunch and the student guests expressed their joy through dance, jokes and songs.
