LAHORE: October 5, 2013. (LEAD) Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill, Chief of LEAD and President PCC Punjab a briefing in Lahore this week told that the world is watching the effective extinction of Christianity from Pakistan after series of attacks on Christians in different cities of Pakistan which were according to Islamic Sharia. Peshawar Church attack was according to Islamic Sharia-TTP According to BBC- The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has once again denied having involvement in the attack on a Peshawar church last month but said it was according to Sharia. “We didn’t carry out the church attack. However, we believe it’s according to the Sharia,” TTP spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid told BBC in a telephonic interview from an anonymous location on Friday. He said that there are numerous component groups of TTP but the motives of all of them are same. He, however, refused to tell the exact number of component groups of the organization. When asked who issues the orders for any attack, spokesperson said free hand has been given to all component groups to choose and attack the enemy targets but they can’t carry out an attack by deviating from the objective of the movement, adding if they do so, they are summoned and punished by Taliban courts. Shakeel Maqbool Malik,a Christian photo journalist and a human rights activist working with Voice of Christians International as media coordinator, last week met LEAD's director Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill at his new address along with his wife and children and asked for support at the time of death threats and attack by some extremists and militants, left Pakistan to save his life. LEAD's Chief Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill told that this is not warning rather it is fact that Christians are leaving the country rapidly who have resources to afford to travel abroad to seek asylum after Pakistan’s worst-ever attack on Christians. There are many who look towards Christian ngos for support to leave the country to save their lives. Some are helping and some are just helping to those who are very close and kins of ngo's head. Some are being constantly threatened to be killed but due to lack of funds cannot move from Pakistan. The asylum seekers who have sought asylum in different Asian countries and still waiting for results are starving along with kids and women. LEAD's Chief further added that we received many stories and requests from different Christian families , who ask for help and support because they are being tortured and involved in different criminal and as well as civil law suits just for blackmailing by Muslim who are powerful. Gill told blasphemy laws created a wave of insecurity and fear in the minds of Christians and other minorities’ communities in Pakistan. They do not feel safe and secure under blasphemy laws and other faith based discriminatory laws. Gill asked if the terrorists have no religion then why they demand the implementation of Islamic laws in Pakistan which are itself being misused by Muslims. Gill shared some personal experiences of his Childhood and the age of youth. He told when he was in grade six there were four Christian students in his class and they were not allowed to drink cold water which was arranged by School's management in hot season. One day one Christian boy took a glass of water from the cooler, when the class teacher came to know this he called upon all four Christian’s students and warned them not to drink water from cooler. He shared one more incident which was happened with him the age of 19 years .He completed his ten grade and was free from study till the announcement of the result. He went to a power house for job which was very close to his city. He was told that he would come tomorrow with his documents. He went next day along with documents when the concerned officer saw his documents and found that he was Christian, he was told straight forward that because of being Christian he would not be given any job. According to these statements, "They are the enemies of Islam, therefore we target them," said the group's spokesman, Ahmed Marwat. "We will continue our attacks on non-Muslims on Pakistani land." And “We didn’t carry out the church attack. However, we believe it’s according to the Sharia,” TTP spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid told BBC in a telephonic interview from an anonymous location on Friday. We ask why dialogues with such militants and with those who are in the support of such groups. These are not a few in number rather they are in majority that's why Government do not dare to take strong steps against them. This is not political game only rather it is game of faith and religion from blasphemy laws to attacks. Who would be the first drop of rain for Pakistani Christians who are being persecuted in Pakistan and who are being starved in asylum seeking countries? We are upset because of our poor Christian community who has no enough resources to face such hardships of life because of Christian faith. LEAD request to Church and other Christian organisations to stand with us and be voice and support for our brothers and sisters who are asking "we are in thirst", "we are in hunger", "we are naked", "we are your neighbors". LEAD told you who are your neighbors, now its your duty to fulfill second Greatest Commandment of Jesus," Matthew 22:36-40 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with your entire mind.’[a]38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
