A Christian Killed by throat cutting in Pakistan on accusation of blasphemy

Karachi: September 17, 2013. (PCP) Boota Masih aged 50, working as Niyaria (Gold scrap collector from drain) at Liaquatabad Jewelers Market from last 40 years was brutally murdered by cutting his throat by a Muslim in broad daylight on September 14, 2013. Boota Masih went to meet his friend in market where one Muslim named Muhammad Arif who also worked as Niyaria in same location kicked him on ground and attacked him with knife. Muhammad Arif after injuring Boota Masih with knife cut his throat with knife and killed him at spot. After slicing throat of Boota Masih in front of shopkeepers and traders the killer Muhammad Arif waved his knife in air standing on dead body shouted slogans “Allah O Akber, Allah O Akber” “I have killed an infidel blasphemer” and walked away. There were dozens of Muslims gathered on spot but no one stepped forward to stop killer and none tried to rescue Boota Masih. After that local shop keeper called police and informed what happened, while one of Shopkeeper called Boota Masih,s Son George to take dead body of his father. President Liaquatabad Jeweler’s Market Sarfraz Ahmed told police that Arif kill Boota Masih for person reasons and it has nothing to do with the Blasphemy. Police is searching for Muhammad Arif even twice police has raid at Arif’s home but No one was there. Police has registered an FIR against Muhammad Arif bearing number 226/13 under section 302 PPC Boota Masih and his family were living in Dastagir, a colony where 250 to 300 Christian’s families and almost 150 Muslims families are living in that area. WVIP, strongly demand to the Pakistani Authorities to abolish Blasphemy Law or amend it . This has been observed that people are using this law to settle person matters.
