Toba Tek Singh, Pakistan: September 12, 2013. (PCP) A young Christian Government Servant, Sweeper in School, is ousted from job by his headmaster/Principal, for condemning him for harassing his wife and is persistently denied for justice.
Zareef Shahzad is a Sweeper in Government Institute for slow learner for Special Education, Toba Tek Singh. It was dark evening of 27th of November 2012 when the headmaster, Nazir Ahmed and two others forcibly entered the house of Zareef Shzhad in his absence when his wife Zarqa Zareef was all alone at home and they asked about Zareef. Zarqa told the headmaster that he was not at home that time and when he will come she will inform him about their coming! Looking Zarqa alone at home the headmaster and the two other accompanying persons started bringing fear and harassing Zarqa and occupied the bed room and started forcing Zarqa, the wife, to spend time with them with one or the other excuse, ordering her rudely to make tea to the headmaster and to his guests. With the intent to get escaped Zarqa told that she did not have things to make tea at home and that there was no sugar and tea available at home. The headmaster and the other persons went out and after some time they came back again with purchased milk, sugar and tea and again entered the house forcibly and insisted Zarqa, the wife, to make tea.
Zarqa made them tea in the courtyard and poured tea in the cups and asked the men who were occupying her bed room against her will to come out and take tea. The headmaster and the others insisted her to come in the room with tea, but Zarqa came out of her house and stood in the street waiting upon her husband Zareef, whereas the headmaster, Nazir Ahmed kept on calling and insisting Zarqa to come inside the house.
After some time Zarqa’s husband, Zareef Shazad came to home and shared his anger with the headmaster and other for getting into his house forcibly!
Because of his grudge against Zareef, the sweeper of the school, the headmaster ousted Zareef from job illegally and without any lawful justification. Since then until today, Zareef is going from one office to the other for getting restored on his job and is of no use. Everywhere he is dealt as Christian and has nowhere been favored which is his lawful cause.
Recently Zareef contacted Pakistan Christian Congress; Sadaf Saddique Khokhar, Attorney at Law for his relief. We have filed and working for the restoration of his job for which we have file dour case with the Provincial Ombudsman in Lahore (Provincial Mohatsib). Please pray! Also Zareef needs to file his case in his department and service tribunal or in Lahore High Court. At present he is in need of financial support to file his case and to travel to Lahore and other cities for filing and hearings of his case!
I, Sadaf Saddique Khokhar Attorney at Law, do hope that we will be able to get justice for this persecution against this Christian Family who has been persecuted because of their poverty and faith! We are thankful to Chief Organizer Pakistan Christian Congress Punjab, Mr. Akram Waqar Gill and Shahzad Fateh, the rights activist and District President, Pakistan Christian Congress Toba Tek Singh to help in the present case of persecution at all levels from police station to the courts of law. Their moral encouragement and their active presence has built our confidence to continue to work for the persecuted and marginalized people in Pakistan.
