Protests Against Anti-conversion Bill Grows in M.P

Bhopal, India: July 21, 2013. (PCP) The protest against the Anti-conversion Bill Amendment 2013 is growing in Madhya Pradesh. The joint meeting of Isai Maha Sangh and Secular organizations, representatives of faith based organizations and representatives of political parties have drawn a battle line in three lines. Joint committee will get many organizations to submit memorandum to Governor to descent the M.P Freedom of Religion Amendment Bill 2013, protests will be organized all over M.P and a panel of advocates and retired judges are looking into the legal options to block the unjust Bill. Many organizations including Buddhist Society of India, Muslim Educational Society, Rashtriya Secular Manch, Katholic Kalyan Parishat, Catholic Secular Forum, M.P (Unit), political parties and many faith based organizations have joined hands to oppose the Bill. These organizations have begun campaign to organize secular organizations in Madhya Pradesh. Isai Maha Sangh is organizing meetings with the help of different organizations to create awareness among the Non-christians the teachings Jesus on religious conversion. In this regard the National Integration Council of the Madhya Pradesh Government organized a meeting to discuss the M.P Freedom of Religion Amendment Bill 2013. The meeting was chaired by Justice R D Shukla(Rtd.) and it was addressed by Former Director General of Police, Tripati , Rashtriya Secular Manch Coordinator L S Herdenia, VHP National Executive member B L Tiwari, senior Bajrang Dal leader and Bhopal Bar Association President , Devendr Rawat, M.P Madrasa Board Chairman Rashid Khan and representatives of many organizations. Hindu organizations supported the Bill saying that there are large numbers of conversions in the state. While the people who supported the view that that the Bill is against the Fundamental Rights enshrined in the Constitution of India. Justice R D Shukla(Rtd.) said, “the Bill is incomplete and it does not carry the basic requirements to become an Act.” While Coordination Committee Chairman L S Herdenia said, “we will do everything to protect our Constitutional rights.” State Congress Minority Department Chairman Mohmad Salim said, “ if the Bill is not withdrawn then the Congress Party will take to the streets.” Isai Maha Sangh State President Sujit William said, “ we are taking to likeminded organizations across the state to join the protest against the Bill, many people are joining the movement day by day. The Jabalpur Division of the Isai Maha Sangh has already called on Divisional Commissioner and submitted a memorandum addressed to Governor. Isai Maha Sangh State Secretary Jerry Paul Said, “The coming weeks will see many protests against the Bill in Madhya Pradesh and the like minded organizations have started to send memorandums to Governor and other constitutional heads in India. “
