Karachi: March 24, 2013. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC has expressed grave concerns over bouncing of checks which were distributed by Punjab government as a compensation to victims of Joseph Colony, Lahore, whoes homes, shops and Church was burnt down by Muslim mob on March 9, 2013, on pretext to accusations of blasphemy.
According to PCP correspondent, government of Punjab distributed 265 checks amounting to rupees 5 lacks each among Christians of Joseph Colony who,s homes and shops were set on fire by Muslim extremists but those checks were not being cashed through banks with note that government of Punjab have not allocated funds in Finnance Ministry to make due payments on these checks.
Pakistan Christian Post PCP correspondent reported that Punjab Assembly is being dissolved in wake of forthcoming national general elections of 2013, but Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif is still holding seat of Chief Executive of Punjab as no care taker Chief Minister is appointed yet.
Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that we urge Mian Shahbaz Sharif to order finnance department of Punjab to make payments on these aid checks to Christian victim unles it is too late and care taker CM replaces him in Punjab.
"Christians have many serious challenges in Pakistan and at this moment statements of different Christian civil society activists against each other on aid to Christian of Joseph Colony are not in interest of victims of Joseph Colony nor in favour of Pakistani Christians" said Nazir Bhatti
Nazir Bhatti urged Christian NGO,s to not to issue any statement to media against each other to champion support to Lahore Christian victims to satisfy their donors.
PCC Chief said that we demand government of Punjab to immediatly pay 5 lacks ammount of support to Christian in cash who,s Checks have been bounced and their names are hoisted on big board hoisted in Joseph Colony, Badami Bagh, Lahore, where homes were burnt down by Muslim attackers.
Dr. Nazir Bhatti appealed to all Christian leaders and all Christian political parties to unite on such crucial moment of history of Pakistan when sechdule of Election 2013 is announced but Christians are left behind to elect their representitives with their votes.
