Lahore: March 23, 2013. (Pervez Yousaf)A programme to mark the Republic Day of Pakistan was organized by Council for Interfaith Dialogue (CFID) under the guidance of Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap for the children of different localities of Lahore Cantt. A considerable number of Muslim and Christian children were present on this occasion.
Main objective of this programme was to bring together the children belonging to different faiths in order to promote national and interfaith harmony. On this occasion, talking to children urged all the children to stay united without social, religious or sectarian discrimination. He told them Pakistan is our homeland and we all are its equal citizens; therefore, we all have to work together work for its progress and properties. He further said that we have to spread the message of peace, tolerance and acceptance starting from our door steps to the every corner of the country so that peace may restore and intolerance, hatred may repeal from our beloved country. He also highlighted the role of Christians in the movement of Pakistan under the guidance of father of our nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
During the programme children sang national songs and expressed their love with the country. They also offered prayers for the promotion of peace and sworn in to work jointly for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
In the end Fr. Shahzad Khokher OFM Cap led all the children in reciting the peace prayer of St. Francis of Assisi. Programme concluded with the singing of national anthem by all the children.
