Pakistan Christian Congress condemn Muslim mob attack on Christian in Lahore

Karachi: March 9, 2013. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have strongly condemned Muslim mob attack on Joseph Colony Lahore and setting on fire one Church, 19 shops and more than 200 hundred homes of Christians. The Muslim accused one Christian aged 25, named Sawan Masih in a petty dispute that he defiled names of Prophet Mohammad on March 8, 2013, who was handed over to police by Christian elders and police filed blasphemy charges against him. The Muslim gathered again on March 9, 2013, after announcements from local mosques and attacked Christian properties at 11;00 AM, equiped with firearms. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that Christians are not feeling safe in Pakistan after rising violence against them in Punjab, Sindh and KPK provinces. "There was attack on Shanti Nagar in 1997, when every home of this Christian village not sparing Churches, in 2009, Gojra and Korian village were attacked and dozens of homes were set on fire, further more, 7 Christians were burnt alive in Gojra town in Punjab" said Nazir Bhatti PCC Chief said that all incidents happened in Punjab province of Pakistan and many Christians accused of blasphemy were killed in court compunds or jails of Punjab which is alarming but Punjab government never bothered to provide safety and security of Christians. Nazir Bhatti demanded immediate arrest of culprits and punishment that such incidents may not happen in future. "PCC will issue a policey statement on March 15, 2011, to stop attack on Christians of Muslim mobs in Pakistan" added Nazir Bhatti
