Karachi: December 7, 2005. The FIR bearing no. 169/2005 was registered at Frere Police Station Karachi here on Tuesday 6th December 2005 for trespassing, harassing, torturing, manhandling and maltreating Mrs. Ghazala Shafique the Lady Administrator and girls/students of Brenton Carey Girls Hostel in the Diocese of Karachi, Church of Pakistan at Karachi on 11th April 2005. The FIR was lodged on the orders of Honorable High Court of Sindh dated 1st December 2005 in a Constitutional Petition filed by the hostel Administrator. The victim Mrs. Ghazala Shafique w/o Rev. Shafique Kanwal was working as the Administrator of the Brenton Carey Girls Hostel situated at 247, Staff Lines, Fatima Jinnah Road, Karachi for the last five years. On 11th April 2005 Sadiq Daniel who proclaims to be a Bishop along with a large contingent of undesired elements forcibly enter the hostel premises in order to take physical possession of the Hostel. They entered girls hostel by breaking the doors, maltreated, manhandled, tortured the Administrator and the girls/students and held them hostage for over five hours, they even tried to take Ghazala's signatures on some unknown documents. During all this time the Local Police remained on the campus and facilitated the trespassers. Instead of registering victim's complaint an FIR bearing no. 44/2005 was registered against the hostel Administrator and 20 girls/students of the Hostel for causing miscarriage of a lady police constable. To find out the facts TPO Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi was directed to held impartial discrete inquiry into the incident. The inquiry officer in his report proved that some persons forcibly entered in the Brenton Carey Girls Hostel dragged Mrs. Ghazala Shafique out, manhandled her and out rage her modesty. Later another inquiry was ordered to the Additional I.G. Mr. Nayyar Hussnain who also vindicated Ghazala Shafique's statement but Police instead of registering victim's complaint registered an FIR bearing no. 87/2005 against some unknown person through the SHO Frere Police Station. Upon which, the victim Mrs. Ghazala Shafique filed a Constitutional Petition bearing no. 1289/05 in the High Court of Sindh at Karachi, wherein the Petitioner Ghazala Shafique prayed through her Learned Counsels Mr. Khowaja Navid Ahmed Advocate and Mr. Raja Qureshi Advocate that the above-said inquiries should be made public and its recommendations implemented. Another suggestion she made was registration of an FIR on her statement. The Divisional Bench of the Honorable High Court comprising Mr. Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Mr. Justice Munib Ahmed Khan after hearing the Learned Counsels Mr. Raja Qureshi Advocate, Mr. Khowaja Navid Ahmed Advocate and Additional Advocate General M. Ahmed Pirzada Advocate on 1st December 2005 disposed of the Petition in terms of a Law Officer's assurance that her complaint would be duly entertained by the Frere police station. Subsequently, on 6th December 2005 the Frere Police registered a nominated FIR no. 169/2005 under sections 147 / 148 / 149 / 337-A-(I) / 506-B / 354-A PPC against Sadiq Daniel, Shahzar Shamoon, Zaffar Iqbal, George Bhatti, Clamintina Berge, Pervaz Barkat, Raj Kumar, Saith Gill, Javed Alam, Riaz Boota, Simon John, Anwar Sardar, Emmanuel Victor, Anwar Lal Din, Irfan Sharif, James Sardar, and 20 to 25 others for trespassing, harassing, torturing, manhandling and maltreating Mrs. Ghazala Shafique.
