LARKANA/Garhi Khuda Bux: December 26, 2012. (Nazir Siyal) The 5th death anniversary of slain PPP Chairperson and former Premier of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto is being observed with reverence and passion here at Garhi Khuda Baksh today (Thursday).
Hundreds of thousands of people’s convoys and rallies from four corners of the country among several federal and provisional Ministers, Advisors, Parliamentary members, party leaders and party workers reached here to attend 5th death anniversary of their beloved leader Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
On the occasion, the activists of Pakistan People’s Party wearing coffins and marched from Larkana to Garhi Khuda Bux to attend 5th anniversary of the death of former premier Benazir Bhutto by pedestrian parade on the road.
The main event will be addressed by the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and President Asif Zardari in the congregation at Garhi Khuda Bux, this event will start from morning 10 am to 5:20 pm on 27th December.
Strict security measures have been taken as thousands of police jawans will be deployed in the village and the surrounding areas, ensuring smooth flow of traffic, and the scanners were being installed at the entry points, Besides, sniffer dogs are being used for detection and aerial monitoring by the helicopter at Garhi Khuda Bux and Naudero.
On the occasion, accommodation, drinking water, cleanliness and lighting have been arranged for the visitors coming from different corners of the country.
DIGs and SSPs will monitor the security arrangements of the personnel from their respective districts which have been called to perform their duties at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto, President Camp House, Naudero and Larkana. The Rangers and police over 7000 thousand policemen deployed including women police and commandos. All transport planned to park outside Garhi Khuda Bux at 2-3 kilometers away, so that for the traffic jams prevention.
Several reception camps have also been established at Larkana and different roots, corners towards the Garhi Khuda Bux and Naudero to accommodate the leaders and workers from all the four provinces.
All necessary arrangements have been put in place to facilitate the workers and general public on the occasion. The street have been decorated with PPP flags and banners inscribed with slogans of "Jeay Bhutto and Zinda Hai BB Zinda Hai".
Early in the morning programme will start with Quran Khawani at the mausoleum of the PPP founder Thursday.
The day will dawn with special prayers throughout country and here at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto for the departed soul of the charismatic leader and first woman prime minister of Pakistan Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
Meanwhile, different Protest demonstrations were held here in Ratodero and Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto, Naundero police dismantled the hunger strike camp established in front of Bhutto martyrs mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bux by the unemployed youth before the arrival of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, they were demanding jobs on Saturday.
A large number of protesters in Ratodero burnt tyres and chanted slogans against the WAPDA for failures to provide transformers and electricity on the eve of 55th death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. They also blocked Ratodero-Naudero Gawader Motorway and chanted slogans of the failures of public issues.
While the police resorted button charged on protesting unemployed youth here before the Bhutto mausoleum during the Chief Minister Sindh Sayed Qaim Ali Shah visit at Garhi Khuda Bux on Sunday.
The police dismantled their camp and resorted batton charged on the youth and removed hunger strike camp.
The police later shifted the arrested young people to Naudero police station and locked-up. Sources told that the Police arrested 22 protesting men including Sarfraz Bhutto, Munwar Leghari, Qaim Chandio, Ishaque Leghari, Younis Leghari, Nasrullah and others.
While on hearing news about the action by police youth got infuriated and held protest demonstration on main Naudero-Ratodero road, burnt tyres and blocked the road holding large sticks in their hands due to which vehicular traffic remained suspended for two hours.
They also raised slogans against police and elected leaders of the area, while Sindh Chief Minister was brought though Saidu Dero road for the first time due to closure of the road as the protesters refused to open the road for the chief executive of the province.
The agitating people Mumtaz Bhutto, Manzoor Bhutto and Deedar Leghari told newsmen that after the demise of Benazir Bhutto they alleged that they have been always kept on false promises during the last four years of PPP rule. The protest was called off when they were assured by an emissary of Law Minister Ayaz Soomro that their demands will be met.
