Karachi: December 10, 2012. (PCP) In order to commemorate the Human Rights Day on 10th of December, 2012 Civil Society Support Program, Hindu Sewa Welfare Program, SPARK and Global Human Rights Defence organized the Seminar wherein prominent advocates, members of Civil Society and Members of Human Rights Organizations including Bishop Aijaz Inayat, Ms. Erum Shah, MPA Pitambar Sehwani, Saleem Khursheed Khokhar MPA, Chairman Standing Committee on Minorities Affairs Sindh Assembly and President All Pakistan Minorities Alliance addressed the audience.
Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar MPA Sindh said that the way religious extremism is spreading in a fast pace due to which the precious properties of the religious minorities is being taken over by such extremists not only the properties of religious minorities is being illegally occupied but even beautiful young girls belonging to religious minorities are also unsafe and being forcibly converted and forced marriages are taking place.
Today, the religious minorities are suffering because of this increasing extremism the route cause of which is that the educational curriculum being taught in primary schools is full of hatred against religious minorities. It is also said to note that in the constitution of Pakistan the members of religious minorities are debarred from consisting the election of President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar stressed that some individuals in order to settle their personal scores and enmities misuse blasphemy law against the religious minorities by instituting false and fabricated cases against the religious minorities for which remedial and review of the law is required.
He said that the Muslims students are imparted their religious education along with other academic educations in schools but the students belonging to religious minorities are deprived of their religious education in the schools. He emphasised that the students of religious minorities should also be given religuos freedom in a similar way as Muslim students.
Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar said that Ramapir Mandir Soldier Bazar and YMCA are illegally occupied by Qabza / Builder Mafia and similarly the same builder mafia is trying their level best to commercialize and take over the precious properties of St. Andrews Church Saddar, Karachi.
Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar was of the view that today we should resolve that we should together endeavour to built the Pakistan of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah where all citizens including religious minorities are treated as equal citizens.
