HYDERABAD: December 9, 2012. (Abbas Kassar) Six times elected congresswoman of United States of America Ms. Cynthia McKinny has said that conviction of Dr. Afia Siddiqui in US court was ample proof that US government was involved and committing crimes against humanity worldwide. She said America has spread terrorism and war against humanity in Iraq, Afghanistan, drone attacks in Pakistan, convicting Dr. Afia Siddiqui for 86 years jail term, all in name of war on terror which she predicted was beginning of end of tyranny.
She was accompanied at Hyderabad press club with another human rights activist and lawyer of USA Ms Sara Flounders, sister of Afia Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui and Abdul Shakoor president of Pasban Pakistan.
The team was brought in huge procession from Hyder Chowk where they were received to a warm welcome. Sara said that she had fought case for Afia and when US judge announced her sentence she had chanted “Shame Shame" in court room. She said judge was biased.
Both members of US activists team told journalists that US ambassador in Pakistan had said that his government was never asked by Pakistan for release of Afia Siddiqui. They asked people of Pakistan that now as elections were on threshold in Pakistan so people must say “No vote without Afia".
Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui sister of Afia told that the US team had reached Pakistan a week ago and had visited Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi and now Hyderabad to get support for release of Afia under afiamovement. Sara said that no evidence was produced before US court not even her finger prints neither gun nor any murder nor ever injured. She said according to international law case can be filed and heard in a court of country where it had been committed if Afia was accused of any case she should have been tried in Afghanistan. Case in US court was flagrant violation of human rights. She said USA was involved in war, bombings, drone attacks and all kinds of crimes against humanity. She said they were against US hegemonic and would continue campaign against its crimes. They said they were here to get more support from Pakistanis to undo injustice meted her by US. They advised US to give more to Pakistan than drones, bombs; missiles and give Afia back them. They wondered why Pakistan is not asking US for return of Afia. People’s power can become rebellious when it comes to honor and dignity of daughters. Sara a political writer and member of secretariat of Workers World Party as well principal leader of International Action Center said Afia's sentence was a political one and its solution is political and diplomatic but it requires concrete action from Pakistan government. She said they would continue movement till her release.
Ms. Cynthia said when she was congresswoman she had met them prime minister Benazir Bhutto and by that relation she would ask her husband president Zardari that without Afia Bhutto's mission could not be accomplished. She said by leaving Afia in jail Zardari is shaming Bhutto legacy. She said she has decided to do all that I could to reverse injustice to this poor woman. She also said that media in America was not free like that in Pakistan. US media was embedded with government policies and never depict true picture of events. It always sided with government. Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui said 4 years is much time to write a letter by Pakistan government for return of Afia back to Pakistan when the government was handing US its nationals who were involved in murder cases here in Pakistan. To a question they said that the case against conviction of Afia can be moved to International Court of Justice only by Pakistan government as its way is state to state and no individual or organization can take any case in ICJ.
