On the role of HRCP in combating the violence on vulnerable sections of society team was informed that the provincial chapters of HRCP ought to be given more authority and more funds which mean the HR body needs to be decentralized. Suleman Abro chief of SAFCO raised the issue of dual local bodies system introduced in Sindh while such a system was not brought in other provinces. He termed this act as discrimination with Sindhi people. Punhal Saryo raised the issue of human rights violations against peasants as they were not being given the due share of their labour on farmlands. Shafique Kandhro briefed the team about child labour by adding that his NGO Sparc was doing efforts to minimise the miseries of children and has for the purpose set up a drop in center for street children. Zain Dawoodpoto told that due to occupation of forests by influentially politically persons and cutting of trees on large scale has been destroying natural environment and ecosystem. The journalists attending the consultation Ishaq Mangrio, Ayoub Leghari and Abbas Kassar analyzed the human rights situation in Sindh with their own perspective. Abbas Kassar informed the team specifically on violence against minority people. He told that in almost all cases of kidnapping and conversion of Hindu and Christian girls the influential PPP assembly members were involved. Similarly these ruling party ministers and assembly members were involved in taking bonded and forced labour from peasants whose majority is from minority Kolhi, Bheel clans. That is why the violence of human rights of the minorities could not come to end. The general consensus was that it was state that has let the situation become worse from bad and it must shed up lethargy to alleviate the sufferings of masses by implementing the laws and if its agencies act in right direction many HR issues can be solved and even the terrorists in Karachi can be eliminated who were shedding blood of innocent people.
